On Friday, 6 September 2013, the Most Rev. Alphonse Long, pss, was ordained a bishop in Hung Hoa in the north of Vietnam. Formerly the Rector of the Major Seminary of Hue, which is operated by the Sulpicians, Bishop Long will serve as Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Hung Hoa.

In attendance representing the French Province was the recently elected Provincial, M. Jean-Marc MICAS, pss, accompanied by M. Paul ROUMANET, pss, and M. Maurice PIVOT, pss who traveled together to Vietnam from France in order to attend the ordination. Most of the more than twenty Vietnamese Sulpicians serving in Vietnam also attended the ceremony.

The Society wishes many blessings upon Bishop Long as he takes up his new duties. Ad multos annos
